Juilliard Violinist Noah Geller plays MSS

Classically trained from the age of five, this 21-year-old violinist has already won several competitions and now astonishes audiences with his spirited playing and the obvious personal connection he maintains with his music and his instrument. Accepted at the Juilliard School in New York City to study with violinist Hyo Kang on a full scholarship, Noah also fosters his natural talent at summer music programs including the Music Academy of the West in Santa Barbara, CA, where he studied with Professor Zvi Zeitlin, the Aspen Music Festival in Aspen, CO, Spoleto USA Festival in Charleston, SC and the Taos School of Music in Taos, NM. Following his short stay in Viroqua (5 days only), he will return to New York and rehearse with the Juilliard Orchestra for their upcoming European tour in late August.

This will be an informal performance at Main Street Station during Market Day. Come one, come all, stay for a little, stay for all.

Saturday, August 13th from 11 am to 1 pm.

Donations to help fund Noah's senior year at Juilliard will be gratefully accepted.

Cora Rose Concert

Feb 5, 2005   7:30pm, $10

Slippers

PLUS: Gourmet Dining at Rainbow Oasis before the show - 5:30pm.  Reservations required 637-7707

With just a hint of Jewel, a touch of Tracy Chapman, and a whole lot of her own style,
Cora Rose is a fresh new talent emerging from amidst the rolling hills of Wisconsin.

Cora Rose, a senior at Westby High School, is well known among many Coulee region natives as an exceptional young talent. Her voice has a freshness and clarity that will make you smile; and her lyrics are deep and insightful at times, light and humorous at others. After her CD release of Ebony in 2002 her career picked up speed as she sang in local venues and at festivals. Before long, she was noticed by a Nashville management company and now travels there once a month to co-write with artists such as Michael Peterson, Jill King, and Roy Rivers. In May, Cora will graduate and then, the Highway will get her. Come here Cora while she’s still ours.

Governor Jim Doyle visits Main Street Station - Oct 11, 2004!

VIROQUA: Early reports are favorable. The governor seemed to enjoy his visit and is very impressed with the public market initiative [a locally owned small business, proving other small merchants space to forge out their dream]. He found Joan Nelson's antique prints of the 1893 Colombian Fair in Chicago extremely fascinating (as did this scribe). The Governor just finished reading The Devil in the White City (a book describing the Fair's powerful effect) by Erik Larson, making the prints particularly mesmerizing. The works are on display in Suite C of the market.

The folks at MSS send a warm thank you to Governor Doyle for stopping by!

Halloween at the Market

Pictures From Halloween 2004

September 11th, 2004 Market Summary. Viroqua dedicated it's new Veteran's Memorial park, just down block from Main Street Station. The market had many 1st time visitors, and a couple of new vendors. The Weepies, put on a wonderful show in Slippers.

There is an on-going World Trade Center photo exhibit in the market, highlighting St. Peter's Parish, which is right across the street from the WTC site. The photos project hope and peace over fear and sorrow. View a few photos online at: the photos site.

Roberta Crawford delighted the audience in Slippers with her Chakra tuned crystal bowls Sound Meditation Concert. Roberta, or Rahbi, has years of formal music training and studied with Fabien Maman in the South of France. Her performance "supports greater harmony with nature and the elements of the universe". Powerful stuff.

We hung  John Schneider's awesome pastoral scenes on the black east wall of the market. It is as if we created the wall for his art. See the art hereThe works are for sale in the market.  Email for more info.

MORE PRESS: Main Street Station was discussed in the August edition of Conscious Choice Magazine, in an article about our beloved architect, Gregory Splinter (the article is at the bottom of the page). The piece is about Gregory's use of contemplative design in his architectural craft. This technique was used in the design of Main Street Station (click here to view the actual drawing). Contemplative design purposely mixes abstract, spiritual thinking with logical, left brain thought to arrive at a more balanced and complete creation.

Chicago Tribune Article. Main Street Station was the featured example in an article about eLance.com, a online company who specializes in matching internet services with clients. We used the service to find www.eBam.net who designed our vendor scheduling system. See a reprint of the May 29, 2004 Chicago Tribune article here.
